Pole, Pole (po-lay, po-lay)

Riding in this tiny bus. The last two spots!! Andrea takes out her motion sickness wristbands as the van swerves slowly back and forth, narrowly missing the ditches in order to avoid the crater sized potholes. We stare out the window at Africa...or at the Africa within the 10 foot radius of the van headlights, and inhale the night air mixed with African dust that streams through the cracked window. We silently gaze out at the wide expanse of stars that stretch all the way to the ground, only interrupted by the vague outline of the giant mountain looming in the distance. Pole, Pole. Slowly, slowly. Life cannot get better than this. We are in Africa!
